Now I'm not some fancy pants cut master kool aid kind of DJ. In fact I don't even like when people say I am a "DJ." I just play records, that's it, plain simple, Barney fucking Phife on the 1's and 2's.

The reason I even still have turntables, as well as buy records, is because of two friends who invited me to play records with them at a bar. I'd go down, bring way to many records, and they'd let me play for an hour or so. It was fun just to play for the handful of drunks that stuck to the bar watching Animal Channel without audio. Then one night a group of kids showed up and started b-boying. They kept coming for the next few weeks, but I never played. Then one night Kevin and Jim didn't show up and I was alone. So I started playing the handful of breaks I had, and they went nuts. They kept coming that whole summer and eventually it was just Jim and I playing every Sunday. This lead me to buy more breaks and really pushed me to keep playing. It was fun while it lasted, but like all good things they have to come to an end.

So I'm going to be playing a set on Dailysessions.com this Monday, and this is what I'm using to inspire the set's list.

As for my funeral? I don't want some priest blessing my coffin in a church! What good will it do? I want to have my coffin propped up in front of a tree. A tree that stands alone in a large flat field. Something like:

I want my coffin open, propped up, so my body stares down with it's arms crossed like an X and fingers throwing devil horns. I'd also like to be wearing sunglasses. But not some designer Ed Hardy print glasses! I'm talking more like the pair Bill Hicks or the Blues Brothers wore.

And flanking my casket must be two fully stocked bars (open of course), with bartenders only making boat drinks.

All in attendance must carry 9mm handguns, with blanks of course. Whenever Matador and Os Mutantes comes on the speakers, everyone must raise their guns in the air, pop off a few rounds, scream a whole hell of a lot, and dance. If they don't dance, they must be shot with real bullets.

DJ Monchan (from Daily Sessions) contacted me through my craigslist posting. (NO! I wasn't looking for young boys in chaps or old ladies into torture!) I had posted in hopes of getting more DJ gigs around Brooklyn. So far, no luck. BUT, Monchan asked me to play on his radio show, and I'm excited to do so. Maybe it's just my opinion, but "hip hop" is dead, as far as what the kids are into these days. People are still putting out solid albums, but they never get the shine they deserve. Instead, you just get some recycled thug with a mumble like freestyle. So I tend to live in the past, when baggy pants and skateboards were my thing.

I remember when they interviewed Das Efx on MTV for this video. The MTV personality brought up that they had degrees and gave them an invisible pat on the back. I remember being a kid and even thinking that was fucked up. It was like they wanted to turn to the camera and say "see, some of these blacks are smart!" The media will always be a retarded and socially confused entity.

While living in Boston, I met my friend Mike (aka. Stoe Rok). Mike was making beats for these two MC's who record under the name "Time Machine."

I helped him shoot their first video back in 2002: (I've got a cameo)

About a year after that, Mike and the whole Time Machine crew moved to L.A. Since then, they've been steady making solid music and growing a solid fan base. In 2006, I got a chance to catch them on tour with People Under the Stairs. Since then, they've put out new albums and new videos.

Glad to see you guys haven't lost your Rhode Island accents. Thank Fucking God! Go get a drink from the fucking bubblah dudes!

I recently visited a friend, whom I used to live below. She had two CDs of mine for the past year and a half, one being Panacea's "Ink is my drink."

I found out about these guys a few years back, completely forgot about this CD. In my opinion, it's styles like this that are keeping hip hop going. Fuck all that Peter Frampton shit people are doing these days.

So Thursday night I go down to Park Slope for my buddy Smut's Cd Release party. I get there on an empty stomach and with an itching to line my gut with rum. Even though I ate two "Dub pies" (small toaster pot pies), I don't feel I helped the situation at all, and continued to drink. But I drank and drank, and didn't really know I was actually getting drunk, but, I did. Drunk enough to leave my phone in a gypsy cab who's company name I do not know.

Ahhhh the joys of alcohol.

So today I stopped service and found out my contract is up for renewal on Monday. So I'm waiting to get my "free" phone. Thank you alcohol, you had perfect timing this time.
